Blackboard is a learning management system that provides a platform for faculty to add and organize course resources for students to access online. All FVTC students do have a Blackboard account.
The FVTC Blackboard can be accessed at https://blackboard.fvtc.edu/.
While you can access Blackboard from the browser on your mobile device (phone or tablet), we do not recommend it. Some features of Blackboard will not work on a mobile device due to the device's limitations.
Once you log into Blackboard, you will see your courses listed under the Course List module on the left hand side of the page.
Yes. You can use Blackboard anywhere you have a computer with internet access.
If you are a student at FVTC, you can get your Student ID by going to https://account.fvtc.edu/find
To change your password, please go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/
For "Email or Username", you will need to use your student ID + @fvtc.edu.
If you are unable to log in to the Blackboard system, it may be for one of the following common reasons:
Please refer to the questions above to resolve either of these issues.
If you are still unable to log in to Blackboard, please contact the FVTC Blackboard Support at online@fvtc.edu or (920) 735-4816.
Blackboard can be accessed from any computer that is connected to the internet with access speeds of 56K or faster. Please bear in mind that slower Internet access speeds might hamper the downloading or uploading of files, especially during peak usage hours (this might become a major problem when taking timed online quizzes or tests via Blackboard). Slower speeds will also interfere with the smooth playing of audio and video files.
Commonly used virus protection software products, like McAfee or Norton, should not interfere with accessing Blackboard.
If you access Blackboard at home and you use firewall protection, you might encounter occasional problems while using Blackboard. To resolve such problems, you will need to make changes to your firewall settings. If you experience similar problems at work, contact the technical help desk for assistance.
Other than a web browser, there isn't any software that you will need to access Blackboard. You may need specific software for your individual courses, but your institutor will let you know if there are any.
Instructors make the course available for the term. In some cases, this can be up to a week prior to the start of the term and in other it can be just a few days. Please note that some Blackboard courses are not available until after the first class meeting of the semester.
