Initial FQAS Training Plan Information

To qualify to teach at FVTC, you need to complete FQAS (Faculty Quality Assurance System) training.  This training is mandated by the Wisconsin Technical College System. 

Instructions for Accessing the FVTC Adjunct FQAS Training Courses

Learning & Talent Development and the Center for Instructional Excellence staff member will facilitate the FQAS training for Adjunct Faculty. In the online (asynchronous) training in Blackboard, you will complete various assessments as you learn about FVTC and the instructional expectations of the college. 

• You can access your training after logging into Blackboard.
• You will see the training classes in your "Course" dashboard.
  • If you are not seeing the training, check the filters above the course icons or list to ensure you are looking for Training and Classes I am taking.

Contact CIE@fvtc.edu if you are experiencing any access challenges. The training facilitator's contact information will be in the training course shell.

Ongoing FQAS Training

Once you have completed the initial FQAS requirements, your status in the FQAS system changes to Ongoing.  In this stage, you are required to participate in three hours of annual professional development through FVTC in Instructional Excellence/Student Success and the Organizational Focus of Assessment based on the fiscal year, July 1st - June 30th. 

Each fiscal year, the Center for Instructional Excellence (CIE) offers great options for you to meet the three-hour professional development requirements:

Looking for additional offerings:

• There are self-paced, in-person, and virtual offerings listed in Workday to meet the Organizational Focus requirement.
• Evening sessions are scheduled to accommodate your busy schedule. 
• Complete 2 hours of training from the following options:
  1. Self-paced Modules in Workday:
     • AI for Teaching and Learning NEW 10/2025
     • Kahoot EDU – Kahoot on Steroids
     • Interleaving for Retention When Designing Your Course
     • Leveraging Test Banks and Exam Wrappers for Student Success
     • Online Learning that Sticks:  Strategies to Shift to Student-Centered Learning
     • Using Humor and Levity to Enhance the Online Learning Environment
     • Wake Them Up!  Engaging Students in the 21^st Century Classroom
  2. Live, virtual evening sessions are offered at the beginning of each term and throughout the term, usually on Development Days.
  3. In-person or virtual training sessions are provided for all faculty on the November Development Day each year. These are advertised via email starting in October each year
