Grants.gov

After obtaining Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) for your organization from SAM.gov, you must return to Grants.gov to continue registration.

The unique entity identifier used in SAM.gov has changed: On April 4, 2022, the unique entity identifier UEI  used across the federal government changed from the DUNS Number to the Unique Entity ID (generated by SAM.gov).

2) If you are not PIV/CAC/AMS, then create a login.gov account at https://secure.login.gov/sign_up/enter_email

Applicants 

• APPLICANTS - Add an organization applicant profile or an individual applicant profile to your Grants.gov account. "Organization" means you work for an organization and apply on behalf of the organization. "Individual" means you will apply for grants on your own to receive the award directly.

1. Complete the required form fields.

2. Confirm your email address.

3. Add an organization applicant profile or an individual applicant profile after registering.

Grantors

• GRANTORS - Click the Continue button to log in to Grants.gov, then contact your federal agency point of contact (POC) who must initiate the grantor profile affiliation process.

1. Complete the required form fields.

2. Confirm your email address.

3. Ask your agency point of contact to associate your email address with the agency.

3) You will be prompted to link your Grants.gov account to a Login.gov account.

What is a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI)?
A Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) is a unique number assigned to all entities (public and private companies, individuals, institutions, or organizations) who register to do business with the federal government. (U.S. General Services Administration). UEI numbers are obtained from www.sam.gov.

The Unique Entity ID is assigned when you request a Unique Entity ID or register a new entity on SAM.gov (KB0038643). Refer to the video and guide below for more information on how to get a Unique Entity ID:

Before You Get Started
You can register to bid and apply for federal awards or you can request a Unique Entity ID only without having to complete a registration. 

Review these steps to choose which option is right for you:

•     About Registration: If you want to apply for federal awards as a prime awardee, you need a registration.
•     Set up a SAM.gov account to register and to get a Unique Entity ID in SAM.gov. You will use your login.gov to access Sam.gov.
•     Prepare Your Data: Questionnaires and checklists.
•     Get Started and choose Register Entity or Get a Unique Entity ID.

 Enter your organization’s Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) in the UEI field if you selected the Organization Applicant Profile option.  

To Apply for Grants, the Organization Must Register with SAM.gov and Grants.gov The EBiz POC can then delegate administrative roles other users. Get your Unique Entity ID and register your entity to do business with the U.S. government. After obtaining the UEI for the organization from SAM.gov, you must return to Grants.gov to continue registration.

Do I need to register with Grants.gov to apply using Workspace?
Yes, you need one Grants.gov account. If you work with multiple organizations on grant applications, you can create and manage multiple profiles within the same Grants.gov account. For more information, read the My Account help article.

Who can create a workspace?
