Off-campus access to online databases and e-books is available to current FVTC students, faculty, & staff.
To access FVTC Library databases from off-campus
through the Library proxy:
Students: Username is your MyFVTC ID@fvtc.edu (EX: firstname.lastname@example.org )
Password is your MyFVTC password.
Staff: Username is your network ID@fvtc.edu (EX: email@example.com)
Password is your network (MyFVTC) password.
You must place @fvtc.edu after your ID or it will not work!
All FVTC managed devices use FVTC-PSK Wi-Fi. Therefore, the Library iPads are on FVTC-PSK and connect to the Apple TV devices on FVTC-PSK on campus (i.e., in our study rooms) through Wi-Fi.
Personal devices can connect to FVTC-Secure Wi-Fi, but you need to use Bluetooth when connecting your personal devices, such as iPhones, to library Apple TV devices in the library study rooms.
To do this using an iPhone:
And that is it. The TV screen will now display anything being displayed on your iPhone.
The network for all your devices (either college or personal) is: FVTC-Secure.
Staff add your network ID (your regular staff login, without the "@fvtc.edu" at the end) and your current password.
Students can use this network too. Use your nine-digit student (do not add "@fvtc.edu") and your current password.
If your computer does not auto-detect the wireless settings, set the wireless card "Infrastructure" or "Access Point" mode, and set the SSID to FVTC-Secure if you have an active MyFVTC account. If you are a Guest, then set it to FVTC-Public.
This network will require you to enter your staff/student user ID and MyFVTC password to access it, but once that is entered, and if you choose, the network will automatically connect to your phone, device or laptop when you come to ANY FVTC Campus, Regional Center or location.
Here’s a few questions you might have:
I have an active MyFVTC account. How do I get on the new network?
• First, we recommend you “Forget” any older FVTC networks on your devices (such as ENTP-AES). You can do this in your devices settings or device WiFi connections.
• Then, in your device settings or WiFi connections, search for, or “discover” all wireless networks and select: FVTC-Secure.
• Then enter in your staff user ID and password.
• We recommend clicking on a checkbox that says something similar to “remember this network” so you are automatically connected when on campus.
I do not have an active MyFVTC account? How do I get on the new network?
Our guests will have access to FVTC-Public.
That network does NOT require a password to use. It works very similar to the old “Guest” network.
What happens when I change my password?
Most devices will prompt you for a new WiFi password when your device detects a change.
Otherwise, you may have to manually do the steps above if you want to reconnect.
