When you borrow a an item, there is no cost to you as long as you bring it back in good condition.
We loan the item to you by checking it out to you.
Students and Public patrons must have a picture ID to check out items.
The item is checked out, or charged, or added, to your account.
When you return the item, it is checked-in, removed, or discharged, from your account.
Loan Period: Length of time an item can be checked out (borrowed).
Renewal: An extension of the original loan/borrowing period.
Recall: When the library requests the return of an item that is currently checked out.
Database: Made up of one or more collections of records.
Record: In a database, it is a page describing an item by title, author, publication date, etc. May include link to full-text.
Item: Anything from an article, full journal, or book to other object in physical or virtual form.
Call-number: Address of where book lives on shelves.
Interlibrary Loan: Borrowing items from other libraries when we do not have it in our collections.
OPAC: (Online Public Access Catalog) = Library catalog.
